Help & Guide

Traffic Cameras UK provides live traffic camera feeds from motorways and major roads across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Here's how to get the most out of the site.

Browsing Roads

You can browse traffic cameras without an account. Simply go to the Roads page and select a road to view all its cameras.

Each road page shows all available cameras in order, from one end of the road to the other. You can toggle offline cameras on or off using the switch in the top bar.

Camera Actions

Tap on any camera image to reveal an action bar with quick options:

  • View on Map – Opens the interactive map centred on this camera.
  • Save to View – Save the camera to your custom view for quick access. Tap again to remove. (Supporter+)
  • Download Image – Download the current camera image to your device.
  • Copy Link – Copy a direct link to this camera to share with others.
  • Expand – View a larger version of the camera image.

Tap anywhere outside the action bar to close it.

Interactive Map

The interactive map shows all cameras across the UK on a single view. You can zoom in to specific areas and click on any camera marker to see the live feed.

Ad-Free Experience

Free users see advertisements on the site to help cover our running costs. Subscribers at Supporter level and above enjoy a completely ad-free experience — no banners, no interruptions.

Requires: Supporter subscription or above (£3.50/month)

Custom Views

Custom views let you save your favourite cameras for quick access. Instead of navigating to a road and scrolling to find a specific camera, your saved cameras are all available in one place on the Views page.

Supporter members get 1 custom view with up to 10 cameras — a simple flat list of your favourites. Commuter and Professional members get multiple named views, perfect for organising cameras by journey. For example, you could create a "Morning Commute" view that includes cameras from the M6, M62, and M60.

Saving cameras

  1. Browse to any road page and find the camera you want to save
  2. Tap on the camera image to reveal the overlay
  3. Tap the bookmark icon to save it to your view (it will turn yellow when saved)

Creating a named view (Commuter+)

  1. Go to the Views page
  2. Tap New View
  3. Enter a name (e.g., "Morning Commute" or "Leeds to Manchester")
  4. Optionally add a description
  5. Tap Create View

Adding cameras to a view (Commuter+)

  1. Open one of your named views and tap Edit
  2. Browse to any road page and find the camera you want
  3. Tap on the camera image to reveal the overlay
  4. Use the bookmark icon to save it, then find it on the Views page

The same camera can be added to multiple views. For example, a camera at a major junction might appear in both your "Work commute" and "Weekend trip" views.

Nicknames

Give cameras custom names to make them easier to identify. For example, rename "M1/6052A - M1 Derby/Nottingham" to "Work junction" or "School run camera". To set a nickname, go to your Views page, tap Edit, then tap on any camera name to change it.

Reordering cameras

Arrange cameras in any order you like. From your view, tap Edit, then use the up and down arrows to reorder.

Removing cameras & deleting views

To remove a camera, tap Edit on the view page, then tap the red delete icon next to the camera. To delete an entire view, scroll to the bottom of the Edit page and tap Delete this view.

Supporter: 1 custom view (up to 10 cameras)

Commuter: 3 custom views (20 cameras each) · Professional: 10 custom views (50 cameras each)

Smart Routes

Smart Routes automatically find every traffic camera along a journey. Enter a start and end point, and we'll show you all cameras within 300 metres of the route, displayed in the order you'll pass them.

Planning a route

  1. Go to the Routes page
  2. Type a start location (e.g. "Manchester") and an end location (e.g. "Leeds")
  3. Tap Find Cameras
  4. The map shows your route with camera markers, and a grid of camera images appears below in journey order

Saving a route

After finding cameras, enter a name and tap Save Route. Saved routes appear in your routes list and can be viewed any time. The route, camera positions, and images are all preserved.

Deleting a route

To delete a saved route, tap Delete next to it in your routes list, or tap Delete when viewing the route. Deleting a route frees up a slot for a new one.

Commuter: Up to 3 saved routes · Professional: Up to 10 saved routes

Themes

Everyone gets access to the Light and Dark themes. Dark mode is great for checking cameras at night without the glare.

Commuter and Professional subscribers also get access to extra themes — seasonal, themed, and fun alternatives to the defaults. We add new ones regularly. You can switch themes at any time from your profile page.

Subscription Tiers

We offer several subscription tiers to suit different needs. All paid plans include ad-free browsing and help support the service.
